Good afternoon, neighbors!
Happy Monday! I hope that this email finds you well. Typically, these emails are sent from the entire OFSPOA Board. However, I would like to take this opportunity to reach out to you directly.
First and foremost, a belated Happy Mother's Day to all of the moms out there! I am honored to work with an incredibly talented and dedicated group of mothers on the board here at OFSPOA. I have also had the pleasure and honor to meet to many of you in the neighborhood over the last year. I hope that you all had a truly wonderful day. Every day is Mother's Day in my book!
It's been a very challenging year, on so many fronts, for so many of us. I would like to apologize for not being more communicative with you. Rest assured, that the OFSPOA board has been hard at work, particularly the beautification co-chairs: Patty Yantz and Grace Caden. I would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank both of them for their tireless efforts.
Speaking of beautification, this is a friendly reminder of the Mailbox Botanical Masterpiece Challenge.
Now that Spring is finally here, Old Field South Property Owners Association is inviting all residents to design and landscape a beautiful area around your mailbox.
The ideal size would be about 10' by 10'. If you do not have a mailbox, no problem as you can still landscape a small area that can be seen from the road. All designs will be photographed and posted on our OFS website and a few lucky winners will be announced too!
Also, as promised in our previous email, please find the following list of Deer Resistant plants that Patty Yantz was kind enough to compile:
- Shrubs & Trees: Boxwoods, Chokeberry, Common Elderberry, Common Ninebark, Golden Nugget, Highbush Cranberry, Northern Bush Honeysuckle,Pagoda Dogwood and Red Maple.
- Perennials: Aster, Black Cohosh, Black-Eyed Susan, Catmint, Columbine, Coneflower, Lupine (attracts Karner Blue Butterfly), Sage and Spiderwort.
- Annuals: Angelonia, Begonias, Caladiums, Canna Lilies, lantana(favorite of hummingbirds, butterflies & bees), Nasturtium,Salvia, Snapdragons & Pot Marigold.
We eagerly await seeing all your 'Beautiful Botanical Mailbox Masterpieces'! Happy Planting!
Thank you, have a great day and, as always, please do not hesitate to reach out to the board, or me personally, with any questions or concerns.
