cheznous - Logifem
Logifem provides shelter and care to women and children in Montreal.
Our vision is to be a force of transformation in the lives of women in difficulty.

Logifem would not be able to survive without the generous support of our donors. Every donation helps.

Update on our Apartments

Work is well underway to renovate our six new apartments for single parent families. In July we held two information sessions for potential tenants and in August we interviewed those who met our selection criteria. Many of the women we interviewed were newly arrived in Canada and were experiencing difficulties getting established in the workforce. Several had experienced domestic violence and were trying hard to rebuild their lives. We are convinced that this project will give women the support they need to move forwards in their lives, by allowing them to complete education and pre-employability projects that will help them to achieve long term stability and by helping them to access the services and resources they need.

The apartments will also provide stability and security for children. We asked Katia, a former Logifem resident, to talk a bit about her experience living in a Logifem apartment when she was seven years old:

We are hoping that the selected families will be able to move into their apartments in January 2015.

Furnishing the apartments!

We have funding to purchase and renovate the apartments, but we need extra funding to ensure each apartment is equipped with appliances and basic furniture. We are hoping to be able to purchase most of this new to ensure the quality is consistent and to help with the logistics of delivery and installation. If you would be interested in making a donation towards furnishing the apartments, please visit our fundraising page

Summer Camp

Once again this summer we took a group of residents to the Camp d’Action Biblique camp ground in Cleveland Québec. It rained for almost the entire weekend, but that didn’t stop us enjoying being in the countryside. Many of the residents went canoeing, we walked through the forest and we managed to have one camp fire in between the showers. When the rain was too heavy for us to be outside, we watched films, played bingo and did puzzles and other creative activities. You can see photos here.

Thank you to our staff!

At Logifem we hold a staff celebration week every year in the second week of September. This year we are taking staff members for a picnic on Mont Saint Bruno. We are very grateful for our dedicated and talented team of staff who work hard to ensure our residents receive the support they need in a positive environment. Thank you for all that you do!

If you would be interested in joining Logifem’s team, keep an eye on the job postings page of our website where we post all new vacancies.
