TOWN & GOWN PLAYERS PRESENT
Leading Ladies
Writer: Ken Ludwig
Director: Leslie Kimbell

In this hilarious comedy by the author of Lend Me A Tenor and Moon Over Buffalo, two English Shakespearean actors, Jack and Leo, find themselves so down on their luck that they are performing “Scenes from Shakespeare” on the Moose Lodge circuit in the Amish country of Pennsylvania. When they hear that an old lady in York, PA is about to die and leave her fortune to her two long lost English nephews, they resolve to pass themselves off as her beloved relatives and get the cash. The trouble is, when they get to York, they find out that the relatives aren’t nephews, but nieces! Romantic entanglements abound, especially when Leo falls head-over-petticoat in love with the old lady’s vivacious niece, Meg, who’s engaged to the local minister. Meg knows that there’s a wide world out there, but it’s not until she meets “Maxine and Stephanie” that she finally gets a taste of it.

In Into The Woods, James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim take everyone’s favorite storybook characters and bring them together for a timeless, yet relevant, modern classic. The Tony Award-winning book and score are both enchanting and touching.
The story follows a Baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King’s Festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch’s curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse. Everyone’s wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results.

Sprucing Up Arcadia for Spring

Our fearless Garden Committee is hoping to plant some Rabbiteye blueberry bushes this spring to fill in some gaps. These shrubs are native to Georgia, attract birds and children who like berries, and turn a beautiful red in the fall. If you'd like to donate, go to our Giving page on the Town & Gown website. We'd be so berry grateful.

THEATER VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

We are looking for ushers help for the upcoming performances of Leading Ladies. To attend a Town & Gown performance, all volunteers and audience members must provide proof of vaccination, with the final shot occurring 2 weeks before the performance they wish to attend.  Also, you will need to wear a mask while indoors.

The Board Member on Duty will be checking vaccination cards for these performances so we would need a vaccinated usher to help guide guests to their seats. If you meet these requirements and would like to help please sign up by clicking the link below!
