PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION CLOSES 30th APRIL
Less than a week to go! Please remind all your contacts with recent photos of Beira. Details below the poster.

Photography Competition in Beira

Bristol Link with Beira have launched a photography competition in Beira, to showcase in Bristol, the work done by the municipality and communities in Beira, towards ‘Communities for a Sustainable City’ and expand opportunities for photographers there. Please send this link to anyone you know in Mozambique who might like to submit photographs before the closing date on 30th April 2022.
This will provide images for ‘Beira Room’ in Bristol’s City Hall to raise awareness of the issues faced, and for our annual fundraising calendar. There are prizes and the winners will be printed on panels for permanent exhibition in Bristol City Council, and also in the BLB calendar. We are most grateful to Bristol City Council, Beira City Council, ADEL Sofala, BITA, RPS, SWTUC, Rotary for their support and in particular the students of Boomsatsuma who have volunteered to do the graphic work.
Fundraising

We are currently developing our fundraising strategy which depends on contributions from our supporters, which could include for you:
  • joining our fundraising group
  • making a regular donation via standing order or GoFundMe
  • holding a fundraising event – coffee morning, lunch, bike ride, walk
  • turning a current or planned activity into a sponsored one, in particular we are looking for runners to join the BLB 10k team at the Great Bristol Run on September 25 2022. Please let us know if you sign up.
Local fundraising in Bristol allows us to have direct interaction between communities in Bristol and Beira. We can provide more information on BLB to include in your activities, and would appreciate any offers of help: please contact us
Get Involved
Our working groups would welcome any further support from volunteers. In particular anyone involved in health, schools and/or climate change for the Programes Working Group, and anyone involved in the private sector and/or IT for the Operations Working Group. If you, or anyone you know, would be interested in getting involved in any way, and especially filling these gaps, please let us know. We would also any ideas for academic research which could be facilitated by BLB.
