7 girls among 29 dead on migrant boat to Canary Islands
Spanish maritime services rescued 27 migrants and recovered 4 bodies in the boat. Boat was spotted by a fishing vessel 500 kilometers (300 miles) south of El Hierro. At least 24 more people were on the boat when it left from Dakhla, a port city in the disputed Western Sahara.

U.S. officials gave the Taliban a list of American citizens and Afghan allies to grant access to Kabul’s airport. The move was meant to help evacuate thousands of people from Afghanistan after the Taliban seized control of the country. But after thousands of visa applicants arrived, the State Department asked applicants not to come to the airport.

Marc Bernier, 65, died after a three-week battle with COVID-19, WNDB and Southern Stone Communications announced on Twitter. Bernier was remembered in recent days as a conservative who sought out and aired others' points of view. He also was an outspoken opponent of vaccinations.
