UN creates permanent body to address challenges of racism
The UN General Assembly on Monday established a new platform to improve the lives of Afro-descendants. The 193-member body unanimously adopted a resolution establishing the United Nations Permanent Forum of People of African Descent. The 10-member advisory body will work closely with the Geneva-based Human Rights Council.

New York Times White House Correspondent Annie Karni discussed the controversy surrounding Obama's much-criticized Martha's Vineyard celebration. Karni used the term "sophisticated" crowd, saying that the guests were "following all the safety precautions". The clip sparked outrage on social media including from journalist Glenn Greenwald.

Realtor Eric Brown and his client Roy Thorne say they were racially profiled. Wyoming police were responding to a 911 call about a break-in. The men were put in handcuffs, including Thorne's 15-year-old son. Police say they immediately removed the handcuffs after learning what the men were doing.

Over 800 unaccompanied migrant kids apprehended at the border in a single day as numbers surge
834 illegal immigrant children traveling the border without parents were detained Tuesday. The previous high point for children in daily records released by Homeland Security was 747 on April 6. Most children who show up without a parent are ages 15 to 17, though authorities report children as young as just a few months who have been carried across.

The U.S. ranked last on access to care, administrative efficiency, equity and health care outcomes. Half of lower-income Americans said costs prevented them from receiving care. The nation performed well in rates of mammography screening and influenza vaccination. Norway, the Netherlands and Australia were the top-performing countries overall.
