Family Resource Center News
July 6, 2020
We are working hard to feed our neighbors and help our community! Keep reading to learn about all of the amazing food that was donated to our families and our New Socks & Underwear Drive!
Unfortunately we are not currently able to accept home decor or clothing donations (other than new socks and underwear). Due to Covid-19 and the resurgence in our community, we are keeping volunteers and clients in the building to a minimum. We will let you know when we are able to accept gently used clothing again! Thank you and stay safe!!
Highlights from the Week of June 29th
Last week, 21 families came for groceries. We set the groceries up in an alphabetical line along the hallway so we can easily grab each order and load up trunks as families arrive for their food!
Three Trees Farm donated beautiful bell peppers, zucchini, beets, and sugar snap peas to our families. Stop by and check out their amazing farm on your next Friday or Saturday outing!
The Bellbrook Presbyterian Church gave our clients milk, eggs, margarine, bananas, and potatoes! The team at the Church does a fantastic job preparing these fresh foods for our families every week - Thank You!!
Kroger on Wilmington Pike donated tons of delicious, summery cakes that were perfect for celebrating the holiday weekend! Thank you, Kroger!
On Wednesday, we set out some of the generous donations from the Sugarcreek Township Police Department for our families to pick from after the picked up their groceries. The books and activities were a huge hit - we are so grateful to the Police Department for providing our families with fun things to do this summer!
We shared a few weeks ago that we partnered with Hannah's Treasure Chest to provide clothing and other necessities to local children in need. We just received our first Hannah's order and couldn't believe the quality of the products and the thoughtfulness that went into providing this package. We can't wait to share these items with this child!
We are hosting a New Socks & Underwear Drive! Although we sincerely appreciate all of the gently used clothing we've received from our neighbors, we love being able to hand out new socks and underwear! You do not have to sign up on our sign up sheet to make a donation - please feel free to drop any size/type of new socks and/or underwear off in the plastic bins. Thank you so much to those of you who have already donated!!
Food Pantry Wish List
Our work would not be possible without the food donations from our generous community members. Donations can be dropped off anytime in the plastic bins outside the front doors of the Resource Center. We are unable to accept food that has already expired. If you would like to donate perishable food, please contact us so we can arrange a time for you to drop it off. You are also welcome to donate grocery store gift cards, so we can go get what we need. Thank you!

Volunteer Spotlight - Holiday Cole
Holiday Cole has been a resident of Bellbrook for 11 years. She has 5 children, and they are her world! She studied communications in college and currently works at the Bellbrook Drive Thru when she's not helping us or spending time outside on her porch watching the birds and waving to her neighbors. In her spare time, Holiday loves camping, gardening, and being outside.
She began helping out at the FRC this winter. On her very first day volunteering, she amazed us with her organizational skills and attention to detail. Since then, she has continued to amaze us with her work ethic, empathic nature, and her drive to fulfill our mission. She has spent the last few months packing grocery orders, keeping the food pantry stocked, organizing various parts of the office, and most recently, connecting our clients to resources in the community that may be able to provide them support. Her move to become our Resource Coordinator is a blessing for all of us and we are so grateful to have her in this role. Thank you, Holiday!
Holiday's favorite quote is "break my heart for what breaks yours" from Hosanna. Thank you for all you give to us, your community, and your family, Holiday!
Do you or someone you know need help?
Due to Covid-19, we are not having our normal open hours. However, we are in the office every day checking messages, scheduling appointments, and keeping things running. We are here for you!
If you need food, toiletries, cleaning supplies, or clothing, please fill out our online grocery form here. We will fill your order the best we can and bring it out to your car. Orders placed by noon on Tuesday will be ready for pick up between 11am-1pm on Wednesday. We can also arrange delivery to those who are home bound or don't have access to a car.
If you would like assistance getting connected to local resources or if you need services beyond food and clothing, please contact our Resource Coordinator, Holiday Cole.
Would you like to donate?
Financial contributions--Thanks to all of our volunteer workers and all of the food and clothing the community donates, we are able to operate on a very lean budget. However, we still need some money to buy food and pay our bills. If you would like to donate money, you can donate online here. You can also mail a check payable to "BS Family Resource Center". Thank you!
Food donations -- This week, we are looking for a variety of items! Please drop off any donations in the plastic bins outside of the FRC. Thank you!!
Clothing donations--Unfortunately, we are currently not able to accept any used clothing donations. We are at max capacity due to not being able to have open hours at the FRC because of Covid-19. We apologize for the inconvenience and will let you know as soon as we can accept clothing again!
Although we are not currently accepting used clothing, we are looking for new socks and underwear, as we are currently completely out. If you are able to help us, please sign up here or just drop off any type/size in the plastic bins outside of the Family Resource Center. Thank you!
Would you like to volunteer?
We have been overwhelmed by the support of our community and are so thrilled that so many people want to volunteer. Due to Covid-19 and the social distancing requirements, we are trying to keep volunteers inside the building to a minimum. However, when life returns to normal, we will be thrilled to have all of you! We are looking for some volunteers right now, though.
*We need people to deliver food to our home bound clients.
*We need strong people with trucks to deliver furniture and transport assorted large items.
If you would like to volunteer or offer your transporting services, please email us.
Thank you all so much for supporting the Family Resource Center and your community!
