Library News

The first book being added to the collection this month links in with the subject of the esca talk on 3 June on prostate cancer:

What men won’t talk about and women need to know: a woman’s perspective on prostate cancer by Glenda Standeven  2 p  STA (books on prostate cancer)
This slim down-to-earth  book  which can be read in just a few hours, gives useful background information for men and women.  It would be particularly useful as a starting point of communication on issues of intimacy after surgery .

Yoga for cancer: a guide to managing side effects, boosting immunity and improving recovery for cancer survivors  by Tari Prinster  5 PRI (self help)
For those faced with a cancer diagnosis and the journey of doctor-led surgery and treatment, yoga offers a way to regain control of your body and take an active part in your recovery and long-term health.   This manual  explores how yoga can be used to the strengthen the immune system, avoid and manage lymphedema, rebuild bone density and reduce pain.  It emphasises the benefits of breathing exercises  for  physical and psychological  wellbeing. The traditional poses are adapted for all levels of ability and cancer challenges.

(Another book on yoga can be found in the library in the section  on breast cancer as it specifically addresses breast cancer patients  by R.N Kollak called Yoga and breast cancer 2b KOL)
