 Hartford Dismas House Opens

Volunteers and Staff on Moving-in Day

Vermont's fourth Dismas House opened in Hartford Village in March after extensive renovations by All Seasons Construction of Springfield.   The house accommodates up to eleven residents.  Volunteers accomplished the daunting task of moving in donated furnishings and cleaning the house in preparation for our first residents.

Since then, residents themselves have done a lot of exterior work on the house and property, including fencing the back yard.  Residents and staff planted trees and are almost done painting the exterior, with  help from volunteers.  The driveway has been paved, and the home has wheelchair access in the rear.

We are extremely grateful to the members of the Upper Valley community who have helped Hartford Dismas in so many ways.   Whether serving on boards or committees, shopping, soliciting or making donations, sewing curtains or quilts,  preparing meals or joining us for dinner, YOU have made this house possible.

Meet House  Director
Ben Andrews

Ben most recently worked as a case manager for HCRS (Health Care and Rehabilitative Services). He has solid experience and success working with men and women who struggle with substance addiction and mental health issues. He also has a significant background as a teacher for special needs students, including those with pronounced behavioral challenges. Ben comes highly recommended by his colleagues and supervisor, who emphasize his broad relational skills, his open and social nature, his organizational skills and his success with those he counseled. Ben, who resides in the Woodstock area, was formerly a business owner who sold his own fine wood furniture.

We  are pleased that
Debbie Diegoli, our former Outreach Coordinator, has stayed on as Assistant House Director.
