Service Puppy In-Training: Levi

Levi's training has continued in earnest. He's one of the smartest puppies we've ever raised and training is always fun.

We're working on several advanced behaviors such as ignoring:
  • food on the floor
  • food being tossed at him
  • squeaky toys
  • hands reaching toward him to be petted
  • dogs walking nearby
In addition, he's had his first Lake Anna experience and -- no surprise -- is a strong swimmer. His energy level exhausts us, but the lake really helps to deplete his activity level!

Levi will be spending two weeks at Service Dogs of Virginia (SDV) on a planned "puppy swap." The swap will allow SDV to work very closely with him, assess his skills, and have some fun with our boy.

We'll miss him while he's gone, but aren't worried about him -- he'll barely notice his change of scenery!

Keep your eye on the Smart Dog Blog, Levi and his adventures appear there regularly.
