New KSOP Mentors
KSOP looks back on a very successful year 2012. The excellence status awarded by the DFG was confirmed in June. This enables us to realize our trendsetting concepts during the second funding from 2012 until 2017. We are also very pleased to announce Dr. Sebastian Köber and Dr. Martin Lauer as new mentors at KSOP. Finally, the mentoring team is complete again.

Dr. Köber is working as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Institute for Photonics and Quantum Electronics (IPQ) and will supervise the PhD Students in Research Area I. Dr. Lauer works at the Institute for Measurement and Control Systems (MRT) and is in charge of Research Area IV. The KSOP PhD Program has an elaborated mentorship concept: in each research area, one postdoc supports the PhD students in all KSOP program related issues, in their career planning, as well as non-scientific and personal issues. The PhD students of RA II and III keep on being supervised by Dr. Franco Weth, and Dr. Aina Quintilla remains the mentor of RA V. All RA I and RA IV PhD students are welcome to approach their new mentors. In the upcoming weeks they will be invited to personal meetings.

We are looking forward to a successful 2013 and wish you happy holidays!

KSOP company contact fair

The sixth career fair on optical technologies was a great success. On November 14, 2012 nine companies of the optical industry presented themselves to about 140 interested students. The talks given by the companies on their latest technologies and the applicant speed dating were the highlights of the this year’s expo. Have a look at the pictures on Facebook and watch the video from 2011.
