New PhD Training Measures and Support
Within the second funding phase by the DFG, KSOP will offer new Technical, Management and Key Competence Modules this year. “Finance and Business Strategies” will be offered from September 9-20, 2013, giving an overview of the system in which financial decisions occur and introducing the overall process of strategic management. Additionally, a workshop on “start-up companies” will be added to this module. More information and registration with Denica Angelova.
As you may know, KSOP supports PhD students with children. For consultation and more information about KiTa opportunities please contact our Gender Commissioners Siegwart Bogatscher or Judith Elsner.
At last, KSOP subsidizes short-term research visits (up to three months) at foreign research institutions. More information upon request.

Erasmus Mundus Spring School We are happy to announce that this year’s Spring School within the scope of  the Erasmus Mundus Europhotonics Program will be organized by KSOP. It takes place from April 8-10, 2013 in Hohenwart Forum, near Pforzheim.

There will be nine tutorial talks given by professors from all partner universities of the EM program (UPC/ Barcelona, Institut Fresnel/ Marseille, LENS/ Florence) and from the University of Paderborn. Talks from EM PhD students and a poster session are completing the program.

Save the date: The next two-day PhD colloquium takes place from July 11-12, 2013 at Carl Zeiss in Oberkochen. The strong cooperation between Carl Zeiss and KSOP has been lasting for many years now. Zeiss also supports the Master Program by granting scholarships. 

KSOP PhD students will present their PhD projects to all participants. There will be further talks from ZEISS representatives and a site visit.

The preliminary program and more details will be sent via email soon.

New students and alumni
KSOP welcomes 3 new PhD students (S. Wiegele, S. Wolf, W. He). as well as 16 MSc students from the Erasmus Mundus program, who will join KSOP in the summer term. We wish you a successful start and an exciting time at the KSOP!

KSOP Open Day/ Scholarship Program
This year’s KSOP Open Day for the Master Program takes place in Karlsruhe on Thursday, April 25, 2013.
Interested applicants can inform themselves about the curriculum, application process and scholarships as well as about the OSKar student chapter. Register online for the Open Day.
