Karlsruhe Days of Optics & Photonics

Dive into the world of O&P and interact with KSOP members and international experts.

The two-day symposium includes plenary lectures from the internationally well-known experts John Pendry (Imperial College London), Henry Chapman (DESY, Hamburg), Rainer Friedrich (FMI, Basel), Raquel Urtasun (Toyota Technology Institute at Chicago), Susanna Thon (Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore) as well as renowned KSOP scientists covering each of the five KSOP research areas. The PhD students from KSOP, the Helmholtz International Research School for Teratronics (HIRST), and the ENSPS Strasbourg will present their work during the two poster sessions.

The poster and publication awards and the graduation ceremony of the KSOP MSc program complete the program of the event.

Ten companies will present themselves this year. Besides the exhibition, the companies give presentations on their latest technologies and introduce themselves.

The speed-dating event is a further opportunity to leave a sustainable impression on the industry representatives.

World Record at KIT

KSOP researchers took part in a world-record experiment. The Karlsruhe Institute of Technology presented a method for wireless data transmission at ultra-high-speed.

In their experiment, 100 gigabits of data per second were transmitted at a frequency of 237.5 GHz over a distance of 20m in the laboratory

Science Slam Karlsruhe

Radwanul Siddique is a KSOP MSc alumnus from the Erasmus Mundus program. Currently he does his PhD at KSOP.

In September, he gave a talk with the title “Butterflies: Beauty lies within!” during a science slam event in Karlsruhe.
