to your On Site Opera experience

Dear Friend of On Site Opera,

We are thrilled that you will be joining us next week for On Site Opera's production of What Lies Beneath. To help you prepare for this site-specific opera experience, we have put together a few helpful tips...

Content Advisory
Please be advised that the story of the production centers around the enslavement of African people. This subject matter could elicit a strong or unexpected response from you or those around you.

This site-specific production of What Lies Beneath will be presented on the historic Wavertree ship located at Pier 16, flagship of the South Street Seaport Museum in Manhattan. No food or drinks will be allowed on the ship during performances except for bottled water.

Wavertree is not wheelchair accessible. Boarding tall ship Wavertree involves climbing a short set of stairs and traversing an angled ramp (gangway).

There is no need to print out tickets. We will be providing wristbands as your entry ticket that also contains access to an e-program. You can also access the program here if you would like to print it out or view it ahead of the performance.

Please be prepared to show proof of vaccination along with ID.

Seating will be general admission. There will be a waiting area available to line up before entry to the ship. There will be no late seating permitted. The house will open 20 minutes before curtain for each performance. Curtain will be at 6 PM and the run time of the performance will be approximately 75 minutes.

During the performance audiences will be moving to 3 different seated sections of the ship. We recommended wearing footwear that will be easy to walk and climb in.

Audience members will be required to provide proof of full vaccination at the entry to the tall ship Wavertree regardless of age. OSO will NOT require testing of audience members. OSO performers, staff, and ushers will all be fully vaccinated and also undergo weekly COVID-19 testing.

Masks will be required for all audience members. Ushers and staff will be wearing masks. If you do not have a mask one will be provided to you. For complete health and safety protocols, click here

Please make sure to inform those that will be joining you for the performance that they will be required to be masked and to provide proof of vaccination. They should also familiarize themselves with our COVID-19 Safety Protocols.

There are plenty of indoor and outdoor dining options available in and around South Street Seaport. For a list of recommended places to eat click here.

There will be portable restrooms available located by the Wavertree ship. You will need to show your wristband in order to use them. There are also restrooms located in the Pier 17 building on level 4 and at the South Street Seaport Museum main building at 12 Fulton Street.

The South Street Seaport Museum, founded in 1967 and located in the heart of the historic Seaport District, preserves and interprets the history of New York as a great port city.
