Greetings Savvy Travelers!
Last month I was thrilled to spend several days in Oregon visiting with my niece and brother and I have shared my experiences on the Oregon Coast in this newsletter. My visit was full of fun wineries and adventure!
If you are like me and enjoy wine tasting, I can always help you book a wonderful vacation that includes excursions to local wineries or a resort that has a fabulous wine cellar. Cheers!
"Maui and The Fairmont were AMAZING! I will be a very lucky girl if I ever get to go back there one day. We had such a fantastic time! Thank you for helping us with our travel reservations and being so attentive! We greatly appreciate your help! You are a fantastic travel agent and we couldn't have planned our honeymoon without you! GOOD TRAVEL CENT$ FOR SAVVY TRAVELERS
While traveling for the past two weeks in Turkey, I was pleasantly surprised at all the free locations for wifi to check my email or to keep in touch with loved ones. It seemed that anywhere there were cafes, bars or restaurants, there was free wifi!
Sometimes it was just a matter of knowing where to look for free wifi.
I suggest you download an app called Wi-Fi Finder
(free on iPhone, iPad
) and it will point you in the direction of the nearest gratis hotspot. The database includes over 650,000 wifi locations in 144 countries worldwide!
Be sure to activate and download the offline mode before you travel though. This way you won’t get stung with data roaming charges when using the app.
"Everything went so smoothly on my trip to Mexico I will always use your services for my travel needs! " - V.R.
THIS MONTH’S TRAVEL TIP
A really fun way to see a new metropolitan city you are visiting is to take the Big Bus
. This bus will shuttle you around the city stopping at all the best local landmark sites. You can hop off and visit the sites and hop on another bus when you are ready to move on to a new location.
Set your own itinerary and visit the sites you are most interested in. Big Bus tours are available in 18 major cities world-wide and offer a great introduction to the city, if you do not want to pay for a private guide.
I have experienced it in two cities; San Francisco and Istanbul and I thought it was fantastic way to give me the lay of the land.
ON LOCATION AT CANNON BEACH, OREGON
In August, I traveled to Oregon to visit my niece living in Portland and tacked on a few additional days to explore the Oregon Coast and Hood River with my brother.
I was so pleasantly surprised at the beauty and activities that are offered in all three locales. Wineries, hiking and biking are just a few of the vast options that are available for the outdoor enthusiast.
In 2013, National Geographic Magazine named Cannon Beach one of The World’s 100 Most Beautiful Places and I can totally see why! It was my favorite location along the Oregon Coast and it offered a beautiful beach, spectacular views and many hiking trails within a few minutes.
I enjoyed my visit at Hood River and since it is located on the Columbia River, it offers great kite surfing and windsurfing. There are also great trails for biking, hiking and wineries.
Speaking of wineries, I visited a really fun winery in Hood River named “Naked Winery”. You don’t have to be naked to visit, but it does offer some funny names of their local wine that will have you chuckling while you are tasting.
"Margi, thank you for everything you've done to help. My wedding could not have come together without you playing a big part of helping my guests get booked and helping to be the communicator between the Playacar Palace Resort in Mexico and myself." - E.H.
