How to Avoid Identity Theft while on Vacation

Identity theft is a growing problem for global travelers. You are using unsecured internet connections, carrying extensive personal documentation and using your credit cards with a variety of merchants.  Here are some tips on keeping your identity safe.

  • Unpack” critical documents before you travel. Check your purse and wallet for any documentation that would not be needed on your trip (Social security cards, checkbooks, health documents). Also be sure to guard any documents you need on the trip.
  • Be careful with shared and insecure internet connections. Be cautious with accessing sensitive websites (banking, work, email) on unsecured networks.  When using a public terminal be sure to clear cookies and browsing history when done.
  • Use only bank ATMs.  Avoid using generic ATMs found in lobbies and convenience stores, as they are at a higher risk for card readers.
  • Keep your cell phone secure.  Protect your cell phone with a password or fingerprint scanner.
  • Follow up after your trip.  When you are back home, be sure to monitor credit card statements and email for suspicious activity.  It is also a good practice to change passwords and PINs regularly.
"We had a great time at the Sandals Resort in Grenada! It was a wonderful choice for us. The food was excellent and the property did not seem to be overly crowded.  Thanks so much for the recommendation. We have passed your name to some friends looking for travel." - K.K.
The Four Seasons Bora Bora

One of my favorite islands in the world is Bora Bora, I always feel so rested and relaxed after my stay and the blue lagoons are so mesmerizing! On one of my recent stays I had the pleasure of visiting the fabulous Four Seasons Resort, it is simply AMAZING and one of my favorites on the island. I hope you find it just as enchanting as I do.

Bora Bora is a small South Pacific island northwest of Tahiti in French Polynesia. This beautiful and luxurious resort is surrounded by majestic views and nestled in a turquoise lagoon with pristine sand-white beaches. Enjoy swimming the coral reef or take in the breath taking- view from the lofty heights of 2,300-foot Mount Otemanu.
