Happy Holidays to you and yours! Whether you are celebrating big and loud or small and quiet – I wish you a joy-filled season of magical moments.

I will be skiing in Colorado this year and enjoying some down time before January and my peak booking season starts. I’m praying for much happiness to you and your family and for more snow in the mountains! Happy Holidays!

I get calls and emails every week from travel savvy clients who ask, ”When is the best time to travel to get the best deals?”

The short answer is it really depends on where you are traveling in the world. Following these simple guidelines will save you plenty of Dollar$ and Cent$.

The Caribbean, Mexico, Costa Rica or Belize, the off-season is from April 15-Dec 20 and that’s when you will get the best deals.

The off-season for Fiji or Tahiti is November through May.

Australia and New Zealand – it will vary on the locales you travel and weather; however, it is typically September through November or April/May.

October through May is the off-season in Europe.

Traveling to Asia? The off-season is May – November/December

When traveling in the off-season, the weather can be iffy with rain and other forms of precipitation. I will work with you to help determine the best time to travel to get the best package prices and enjoy the best weather. One of my clients, Richard, travels specifically in May to Mexico or Caribbean to avoid the crowds, enjoy great savings and drier weather.

Travel savvy travelers like to make sure they are protected before they leave home. Call your bank and/or credit card provider ahead of time to let them know the dates you will be traveling. Sometimes banks think that fraud maybe occurring if transactions are suddenly happening in Bali when you’re from Jersey, and they will turn off your card as a security measure. You don’t want to be stranded on your international vacation without access to your credit or debit card.

Another idea is to have a separate credit card used only for travel or a backup card you rarely use. I recently talked to someone whose credit card was compromised in the US while she was traveling in Amsterdam. A hold was placed on her card and the hotel wouldn't accept her debit card.

I was invited last week by Pleasant Holidays to attend Elite Experience, a weekend in Cabo San Lucas honoring their top 50 travel professionals in the U.S.  We stayed at the beautiful Secrets Puerto Los Cabos Resort, an impressive adult only property that I highly recommend.

Enjoy Unlimited-Luxury® with elegant accommodations, a world-class spa, gourmet dining and private beaches. This is the perfect place for a corporate incentive group, a destination wedding, or celebrating an anniversary or honeymoon.  Whether you are a golf enthusiast, spa lover or simply want to sit by the pool sipping Margarita’s this is a great resort to get much needed R&R.

After September’s hurricane in Cabo San Lucas, I thought it was important to get first- hand knowledge of the location for my clients. After meeting with Edudro Segvrd from the Los Cabos Tourism Board, he informed me that everything is about 90% back to pre-hurricane for restaurants, resorts, shops. It will be in full swing in time for the busy tourist season starting at Christmas 2014. A few of the resorts will open in March such as the One and Only Palmilla and Las Ventanas. Otherwise it will be great to take advantage of any deals that are available.

"Thank you for putting together the most wonderful wedding anniversary trip we could imagine possible! You have helped us with 3 romantic trips now, and it is obvious that you are the romantic, luxury getaway expert! I don’t think we would have been able to find such a wonderful, unique resort in St. Lucia on our own that was so perfectly tailored to our personalities and our needs for this particular trip. We will certainly call and make arrangements with you again for our next anniversary trip we take!”
- Carrie N.

Next month I will tell you all about my trip on the Paul Gauguin cruise in Tahiti - Boutique Sailing at it’s finest to incredible islands.
