Where did the summer go? Isn’t that what we all say when the leaves start to turn gold/red/orange and pumpkins appear? Autumn in Colorado is spectacular with the beautiful aspens, and the sounds of elk bugling. Did you take some amazing trips this summer? I would love to hear from you! Where you stayed, restaurants you would recommend, sights to see and what to skip. Each month you’ll be receiving this newsletter with my own personal travel recommendations for destinations, resorts, experiences and group travel ideas. I am one of the few travel professionals who actually experiences first-hand the destinations that I recommend – you benefit from that knowledge.

Windstar Cruises

In June I traveled on the Windstar Windsurf to Europe (Italy, France, Monaco, and Spain). All I can say is “WOW”! I don’t think of myself as a “cruise” person per se, and this is exactly the clientele they cater to. One of their taglines is “Cruising for the ‘uncruise’ person” and now I know what that really means.

Windstar classifies the Windsurf as your personal yacht. The “yachts” are smaller and more intimate with 31 spacious, luxurious suites and 122 beautiful staterooms. Not sure how to choose a suite or stateroom? I can help you select the best location based upon your needs. I personally had the suite and was amazed at the spacious cabin with living room and TWO restrooms.

There are multiple specialty restaurants serving up just about any gourmet food imaginable. The fresh seafood, sushi and jumbo shrimp cocktails were a few favorites. There was a BBQ on the deck with live Calypso music and it was super fun and casual. I’ve never had seafood paella like this before! The Filipino staff is so friendly and courteous and calls you by name. There is a 7-night minimum and you are sure to want to stay longer pre or post cruise.

This is one yacht that I didn’t want to leave! Windstar offers many unique International itineraries including Europe, Mediterranean, Asia, Panama, Caribbean and Tahiti. Are you celebrating a milestone birthday or anniversary in 2015? Ask me about the best time of year to travel to these International locales. Together we’ll plan a memorable celebration that you’ll be talking about long after you return.

Viva Italia!

Have you been to Italy? Did you just love it and want to move there? There is so much to see and do! I was only there for seven days and could have easily spent two weeks or more. Here are a few highlights:

1. Italy is famous for their food AND their wine! If you have been to the Wine Country in California and loved that - then make this a must-experience trip of a lifetime! Get a group of your friends together that enjoy wine and eating as much as you do then give me a call. I can recommend some fabulous restaurants and best places to sip wine.

2. Rome is filled with history. For those of you that like an educational, learning vacation – this is it! A few places I visited were: Vatican, Colosseum (see photo below), Roman Forum, Pantheon, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain and Piazza Venezia.

3. Portofino is absolutely gorgeous and one of the most picturesque coastal cities in Italy. (see photo below) A highlight was the scenic hike between Portofino to Santa Margherita. This is a tree-lined paved trail about three miles long with amazing views of the sea and towns. I was wearing casual walking shoes and would rate this as a moderate hike.

Our vacation to Costa Rica was absolutely fantastic!!  It is definitely the best vacation that we have been on to date.  The kids loved all of the adventures and the accommodations were great.   I will recommend you to anyone and you can use me as a reference any time!!!  I just can’t wait to plan another trip!!!”

Message from Margi

Next month we’ll visit the Grand Velas Resort in Playa del Carmen and some Active Vacations to fun locales in Peru. In the meantime, I’ll be in Colorado hiking until the snow flies and ski season begins. I will be traveling to Tahiti next month hosted by Paul Gauguin Cruises and you can look forward to hearing about my first-hand experience of this luxury small ship sailing the Tahitian Islands.
