Tech Girl Monthly | December 15, 2012

Welcome to the Tech Girl Monthly!
CSEdWeek just wrapped up today in the United States. The purpose of this week is to celebrate the impact of computing and highlight the need for computer science education. There were lots of great articles, interviews and events that happened this week. Here are some of our favorites:
  • "a commitment to teaching computing as the new writing can heighten our students' future possibilities" ~ Idit Harel Caperton
  • "When you say Computer Science it means everything" ~ Marene Martinez (high school student)
  • "An education in CS opens doors in a wide variety of other disciplines." ~ Tess Rinearson (college student)
  • Technology is EVERYWHERE, but where are the girls? ~ NCWIT Infographic

Creations

Tech Girls at Computers4Kids have been learning how to create websites. All the material to run this Create a Website workshop is now available online. The idea behind this and other, soon to be released workshops, is to provide educators and learners with access to computer science curriculum that can be incorporated into any subject area. Please let us know how we can help support your efforts to incorporate computing concepts into your curriculum and of course, let us know what you and your students create!
