Unity through Community
Summer Sight-Singing Romp 2016
Tel Aviv Orlando Paris
As our world continues to be rocked by incomprehensible hatred and violence, we respond with the sound of music.

Hebrew Educational Alliance
3600 E. Ivanhoe St., Denver, CO 80237
Admission $5
Join the Colorado Hebrew Chorale and area choral directors for an evening of sight-singing and experiencing music, both classical and contemporary.
The Sight-Singing Romp will feature two movements from Tyler's Suite, which is a new and lauded nine-piece choral movement dedicated to the memory of Tyler Clementi, a talented young musician who committed suicide after being bullied by his roommate during his first weeks of college.
While Tyler's Suite was originally conceived for and has been performed by male choirs, the arrangement included in this year's Romp is for mixed chorus, that is, men and women singers.
Tyler's Suite explores the voices and experiences of Tyler and his family, and ultimately shines a light of hope and endless possibility, thanks to words from celebrated librettist Pamela Stewart and the music of today's top composers: Mark Adamo, John Bucchino, Ann Hampton Callaway, Craig Carnelia, John Corigliano, Stephen Flaherty, Nolan Gasser, Jake Heggie, Lance Horne, and Stephen Schwartz.
The text of the final movement, "The Narrow Bridge", is taken from the famed Rabbi Nachman of Bratslav. All the movements are poignant, but with the renowned opera composer Jake Heggie's music surrounding this particular section, the themes of promoting acceptance and combating bullying are especially compelling.
Singers and listeners are welcome.

Kol Nashim
Woman to Woman 2016
Each spring Kol Nashim, the women’s choir of the Colorado Hebrew Chorale, presents two benefit concerts in support of the Jerusalem Shelter for Battered Women. This May we performed at Congregation Beth Evergreen and at Temple Sinai, Denver.
Thanks to the generosity of our audience and supporters, we raised $2,700 for the Shelter!
Thanks to the assistance of our anonymous donor, who more than matched what we raised, we were able to match what we gave last year - a total of $5,600 in support.
Kol Nashim music director and founder Leah Peer hand-delivered the funds to Shelter director Naomi Schneiderman on June 9, 2016.
Our sincere thanks and appreciation to all the volunteers who helped make these concerts possible.
Stay tuned for a concert sampler in the next issue!
