Street Skills 101
Are you interested in gaining confidence about riding in the street alongside cars? The Bike Coalition offers a four hour Street Skills 101 class where you learn about the gearing on your bike, how to travel through intersections, and how to perform basic maintenance too. $20 or $10 for Coalition members. Remember to use hand signals...
Being predictable is a big part of staying safe while you ride. To signal a left turn point left with your left arm. Signal a right turn by pointing right with your right arm.  To signal that you are slowing or stopping put your left arm our with the palm down. Easy, right? You can also help by pointing out things like broken glass or other road hazards. Simply point at the problem as you ride by to alert rider behind you to watch out.
