Sonoma County Board of Supervisors Meeting
Tues., October 25, 2:10 p.m.
575 Administration Drive, Room 102A
Santa Rosa
On Tuesday, October 25th, the Board of Supervisors will consider approval of a use permit for the Sebastopol Charter School Project, which as proposed, will result in approximately 756 vehicle crossings of the West County Bike Trail daily. Attend Tuesday's meeting to let the Supervisors know that you do not support putting vehicle access before bike and pedestrian safety and encouraging active transportation.
The West County Trail is heavily traveled by bicyclists and pedestrians on a daily basis, serving both commuters and recreational users of all ages and skill levels. To interrupt this trail with intensive automotive traffic presents considerable safety concerns to the many daily users of the trail and prioritizes vehicular traffic over encouraging active transportation.
Ask the Board that as an alternative, the driveway across the trail be used for emergency vehicle access and school staff only and that all student drop off / pick up occur via an existing local street or the O’Reilly parking lot, thus avoiding hundreds of vehicular trips across the West County Trail per day and putting vulnerable trail users at risk.
The West County Bike Trail is an incredible asset which connects our neighborhoods, schools, downtowns and open space. Urge the Supervisors to maintain the integrity of our trail by restricting any new vehicular crossings.
