Let's make it a Bike Friendly Fair!
We've been invited back to provide free secure valet bicycle parking at the 2015 Sonoma County Fair. This is the biggest bike parking event by far and it's one that can really make a difference. Last year almost 185,000 people drove to the Sonoma County Fair, emitting 6,000 tons of CO2! In fact, carbon emitted by travel to the Fair is over ten times greater than all the energy used by the Fair itself.
You can make a difference! More people will leave their cars at home and ride to the Fair only if they know their bikes are safe and secure while they're enjoying the rides, food and entertainment!
We need lots and lots of people to make this happen since the Fair runs from July 24 through August 9 (except for Mondays) and is open from 11:00 am to 10:00 pm. We've split each day into three shifts, so that's 45 shifts total - Yikes! To sweeten the pot (and thanks to generous support from the Sonoma County Fair), we are offering a $75 stipend to the first person to sign up for any of the morning or afternoon shifts and $50 for the first person to sign up for any of the evening shifts.
If stipends are not enough to motivate you, remember that we're going to be providing valet bike parking at this year's BR Cohn Music Festival (October 2-4). Everyone who volunteers for valet bike parking this summer will be on the preferred list to help out at the B.R. Cohn Festival!
