Raising Kinship Children Masterclass
Our next Masterclass is taking place on Friday 9 December in Kent. The masterclass, created especially for kinship carers, will be presented by Dr Karen Treisman, our consultant trainer, who is highly specialised in the areas of parenting and trauma and attachment. Further details will be sent out to local members next week. Places are limited and will cost £20 per person.
Look out for further events in York, Blackpool and Bristol in 2017.

Westminster Event: Growing up in Kinship Care
On Tuesday 15 November, we are holding an evening reception in London to explore the experiences of young people who have been brought up in kinship care.

We're delighted that Anne Longfield, the Children's Commissioner for England and MPs will be joining us and showing support for the children and young people you're raising.

Relative Experience Conference 2016
The conference is taking place in Newcastle on Tuesday 29 November. The day will include talks from kinship carers about how to build successful peer support groups and explore the impact of volunteer befrienders supporting kinship carers.

If you are interested in attending or would like further details of our events please email events@grandparentsplus.org.uk.

Maxine's Story
“Becoming a kinship carer was like walking headlong into the unknown –
emotionally, I was on the floor”

Earlier in the year we made a film about Maxine and her niece Faith to highlight some of the issues kinship carers face. The film was used as part of a training programme for professionals working with families. We are happy to say that Maxine's Story has been nominated in the Charity Film Awards.

The film that receives the most votes will win. So cast your vote and share with friends and let's highlight the importance of kinship care together.
