Queen Anne Towne's opening adds new amenities, enhances walkable neighborhood
June 2014

The recently opened Queen Anne Towne mixed-use development, designed by Tiscareno Associates, enhances Seattle’s Queen Anne neighborhood as a great place to live, work, and play. Developed by Emerald Bay Equity, the project includes 108 apartments and 30,000 square feet of retail anchored by a Trader Joe’s grocery store.
A 3,500-square-foot plaza serves as a focal point and public gathering space. The plaza features art commissioned from local renowned artists and pays tribute to Queen Anne’s history.
“For a lot of cities, walkable communities have blocks of mixed-use buildings,” Principal Bob Tiscareno says. “Here, we have a project that is not shying away from retail or minimizing it; it’s embracing it and creating great retail at grade because the community needs it.”
Tiscareno Associates designed the building to LEED Silver standards. Environmentally friendly aspects include a green roof, low-VOC materials, and energy- and water-efficient features that will significantly reduce energy and water use.
The project team included DCI Engineers, civil engineer; E3RA Inc., geostructural engineer; Page Engineering, surveyor; Abossein Engineering LLC, mechanical engineer, plumbing, and electrical engineer; Brumbaugh & Associates, landscape architect; and O’Brien & Company, LEED consultant. Charter Construction is the general contractor.
