At Doejo we spent the week gearing up for our “Tall Tales From a Large Man” event with graphic designer Aaron Draplin that took place last night. This meant unboxing and selling the four limited edition posters our design team created to celebrate the event and interviewing the founder of Strange Pelican beer to discuss the new brews he brought for our guests to enjoy.

All the while we have been furiously life-blogging every detail of the week leading up to the event on the Doejo Instagram feed. Speaking of life blogging, we found a new wearable camera that will make catching every memorable moment a breeze.
Q&A with Eric McNeil, the brewer and designer behind Strange Pelican Brewing Co.We chatted with Eric McNeil about the future of his up-and-coming local brewery, the plans for a brick-and-mortar space and how Doejo will be helping to shape Strange Pelican’s online presence. Eric also shared lessons and photos from his recent trip to harvest hops and some new information about the ales he is currently brewing up.
Help The Leapyear Project publish a well-designed book of inspiring storiesThe Leapyear project is a self-education/self-discovery endeavor of Chicagoan Victor Saad that fuses design, business and social change. In addition to traveling the world to apprentice 12 businesses/agencies, Victor has been encouraging everyone he meets to take their own leaps. To help fund a book that will share these inspiring and life-changing stories, Victor has recently launched a Kickstarter. Check out more details about his book and the incredible rewards he is offering to backers of the campaign here.
Limited Edition Aaron Draplin event postersWe were so excited about hosting Aaron Draplin’s “Tall Tales From A Large Man” talk that our designers created four limited edition screen-printed designs. We even had them printed by Draplin’s go-to screen printing team, The Half and Half in South Carolina. Couldn’t make it to the event last night? You can get your very own set of limited edition prints here.
We’re All In This Together: An Exhibition by Matthew HoffmanMatthew Hoffman’s “We’re All In This Together” is currently on display at The Coop, a co-working space in River North. The bold, expressive and imaginative work is meant to provoke contemplative communication through art. We have a preview on the blog as well as a run-down of Hoffman’s greatest hits -- including the outdoor sign for Bow Truss Coffee Roasters.
