Time to get real. The holidays this year might suck, and it's possible right now you are already feeling a bit anxious/depressed at the prospect of not being able to enjoy your usual traditions or be in the company of your loved ones. Over the last few years, I've had a few holidays that I either thought were going to suck and didn't - like the first year after my Dad passed away. Or were actually worse than I anticipated... like the first year my sister moved back to BC, my mom fell and fractured her pelvis and my husband had the flu. But even with a few tears, I got through them and just like every other holiday a few days later it was all a distant memory.
Without question this has been an extremely difficult year on so many different levels, but I also want to remind you that this year has shown you how resilient you are, how creative you can be and also how important the practice of gratitude really is. So please, just take each day as it comes - no expectations, no judgments. Remember your self-care and make sure you exercise and get some fresh air especially in those moments where you feel your anxieties creeping up.
Knowing that our calendars may be a little more free this year, I'm continuing this month with my At Home Retreats on Saturday, December 19th - the theme this month is Gratitude + Joy. Focusing on what we have, and remembering that we have an incredible resource of joy within - sometimes we just need a little extra help to find it.
With Love + Light, Lisa.
