Calling all Crones (and Crones to be, and Crone supporters)! Gather 'round Wednesday, November 2nd at 5:30 pm at Longbranch Café & Bakery  in Carbondale, Illinois for "Menopause Metamorphosis" with renown American herbalist Susun S. Weed.

(If you're not local to our area and would still like to view the film, visit the Wise Woman Bookshop for a copy and invite a circle of women to watch and discuss!)

Menopause is a period of transition and metamorphosis, like puberty. It consists of three stages: isolation, melt down, and emergence. Each stage calls forth new energies and new perceptions of ourselves. Each stage has different demands, different tasks, and different needs.

About The Film

Susun Weed and twelve menopausal women offer heart-felt and practical advice for women in the midst of Change. Susun explores menopause as the ultimate woman's mystery and offers simple home remedies for uncomfortable symptoms. This engaging, informative one-hour video--filmed at Stonehaven by women for women--is like having a menopause support group in your own home. Includes hands-on preparation of an herbal vinegar, songs, stories, and a Crone's Crowning ceremony.

Susun Weed

Susun S. Weed has no official diplomas of any kind; she left high school in her junior year to pursue studies in mathematics and artificial intelligence at UCLA and she left college in her junior year to pursue life.

Susun began studying herbal medicine in 1965 when she was living in Manhattan while pregnant with her daughter, Justine Adelaide Swede.

She wrote her first book -- Wise Woman Herbal for the Childbearing Year (now in its 29th printing)-- in 1985 and published it as the first title of Ash Tree Publishing in 1986.

It was followed by Healing Wise (1989), New Menopausal Years the Wise Woman Way (1992 and revised in 2002), our favorite -  Breast Cancer? Breast Health! The Wise Woman Way (1996) and Down There: Sexual and Reproductive Health the Wise Woman Way

Discussion after the film hosted by the Second Annual Women's Health Naturally! Expo & Workshops. This all day women's natural-health expo, hosted at the Dayemi Community Center, features a presentation sponsored by Groovy Booby, "Breast Lumps: How to Lovingly Care for Them."
