Production Residency II: Beth Kettel

September - October
Launch: Friday 7 October, 6–8pm

Beth Kettel will be resident in the Second Gallery Workshop throughout September, developing new work which will launch at October’s Digbeth First Friday. Working with text, performance, video and costume, Beth borrows formats and structural devices from popular culture to draw connections between disparate ideas and create porous, multi-layered performative works.

The exhibition of the shortlisted artists’ proposals is moving to the Library of Birmingham! A chance to see the models and have your say, this is the second in a series of public exhibitions which present five ideas for a major new public work of art for the city of Birmingham.

esp round up

September’s ESP programme starts with the first in a series of events on ‘Working in Public’; an informal discussion and toolkit, led by Vanessa Boni, Elizabeth Rowe and Kate Self. This will be followed later in the month by a social ‘Getting to Know ESP’ evening which will see members bare all as they each share five non-art things they’re interested in.

Write Club and Book Club continue as always and we are brewing a number of new opportunities for members to research, produce, show and sell work which will be launched soon. As always membership is just £5 a month or £2.50 for recent graduates.
