COVID-19 is very much on our minds as we ‘go to print’ today. We are taking things day by day at the moment but want to assure you all, that we are doing everything in our power to keep your tamariki safe. No non-vaccinated person is allowed on site and we are encouraging our students to continue to wash their hands and sanitise. If there was any hint of the virus in our school community we would be informing all parents ASAP and following the MoE guidelines.

Camps & EOTC Activities:  will still be going ahead for now. Obviously we will continue to monitor the situation. We will keep you updated as time goes on.

Pack the Bus:  SES will support the Wairarapa Pack the Bus appeal. On Tuesday 30th November at 1:10PM the bus will pop into school and pick up any donations of gifts for children. If you are keen to support this please drop off an UNWRAPPED gift to the school office (non-perishable food is OK too).

Staff:  We have 2 staff, Jackie and Momoko on leave at present. We are endeavouring to fill their roles each day so the learning for our students is not affected. If you have any concerns please get in touch.

Board of Trustees:  Sometime in 2022 the BoT elections will be held. If you are keen to find out more about what is involved, come and join us for our last meeting of the year - WEDNESDAY 1st December, 7-8PM in the school staffroom.

Athletics:  We will be holding our own Junior and Senior athletic sports. Sadly we will not be able to invite spectators. We will advise you when they are going to be held and send through lots of photos.

2022 Classes:  We are still working on options for our 2022 classes. All students and families will be notified before the end of the school year. Montessori classes remain the same unless the student is a Year 4 who will fly up to the senior hub. If for any reason you and your child’s circumstances are changing for next year PLEASE let us know and / or if you know about any children that may be attending SES next year please let us know.

HERO:  Is our new School management System. It is vital that all families hook up to Hero so that we can communicate with you. As we get up and running you will be able to see your child and their learning progress. There are also features such as sending an absence (that gets sent directly to the class roll) and viewing medical room visits. When making an account on the Hero app please use the same email you have registered with the school (so it links to your child/ren), click here for more information: Hero.

During the summertime: Compulsory Hats. No hat, No play! Please make sure that your child has a sun smart hat in their bag to use each day. We have a supply of school hats for sports days ONLY. For health reasons we need children to supply their own NAMED, SUN SMART hat.

We are a Water Only School. We encourage all students to have a water bottle with them at school. If a child brings another type of drink to school the teachers will take the drink off them and give it back at the end of the day, to take home.
