Kia ora koutou Te Kura o Taitonga

Kat has had her baby!!! Kat, Dan, Grayson and Yolandi welcomed their son and brother into this world on Monday 22nd February @ 6:46PM. 7lb 10oz - all doing well.
So that means we officially welcome Nic Rodgers to our team while Kat is on maternity leave. Please ensure that you call in and say hi to her and clearly let her know who your child / children are and their room name & number please.

I apologise for not making the welcome BBQ - a family emergency occurred. Thanks to all those who came, cooked, ate and had a swim. I hear a good time was had by all!

Our swimming season has been a mixed bag this year sadly. We are trying to get as much in as possible but the cold mornings and some cold days have hindered us having warm water to swim in. Please bear with us and send along your children’s togs everyday and we will continue to try and fit more lessons in over the next couple of weeks.

We continue to open the pool daily at lunchtime for those who are keen to cool off.

Bookings are open! = Student, parent, teacher - goal setting compulsory conferences are on Wednesday 10th March - 3:15PM to 7:30PM and Thursday 11th March - 1:00PM to 5:30PM - details below

Thought for the week

At South End School we want children to
Show Respect
Children respect themselves, their whanau and their environment, treating others as they would like to be treated. To create an environment that is supportive and fosters aroha and a sense of community.

Nga mihi

What's up?

This term, Matai kids have been lucky to have Laurence (Masterton Boxing Academy) visit us each week to teach us boxing.

We are really enjoying the challenge, (especially the fitness workouts), and we have some "budding boxers" in the making!!!

House of science - kits are back in school for us. Many thanks to McKenzie Electrical who sponsor our school for one kit a week for the whole year - at present we have the Float my boat kit.

South End School - Important Information to retain
Change of address, phone number or any other vital information
Please notify us immediately if there is a change of parent/guardian, address, phone number, emergency number or doctor. In cases of sickness or accident, we need to contact parents immediately and this information is of vital importance.

During the summertime: Compulsory Hats. No hat, No play! Please make sure that your child has a sun smart hat in their bag to use each day. We have a supply of school hats for sports days ONLY. For health reasons we need children to supply their own NAMED, SUN SMART hat.
At South End School we have an “open door” policy - parents are encouraged to keep in contact with the class teacher to discuss any questions regarding the education of their children. Early intervention, and prompt action, can prevent small problems from becoming major issues. If necessary, parents are welcome to see the Principal about any school matter, either by making an appointment (by email or through the School Administrator), or just by dropping by.

Reminder, we are a Water Only School. We encourage all students to have a water bottle with them at school. If a child brings another type of drink to school the teachers will take the drink off them and give it back at the end of the day, to take home.
