With COVID-19 now ramping up in the Wairarapa community a reminder:

  1. We will let the whole school community know if we have a positive case.
  2. It is really important that you let us know if you or your child has COVID-19 as we are required to give the child’s name to the Ministry of Education but no one else will know names.
  3. Please let us know if you need help in any way while isolating/sick.
  4. In the meantime we continue to keep everyone safe here at school, continuing to sanitise, scan and social distance where possible.

Students have been given hard packs and or instructions for online learning if and when they need it. Our rules are if you are sick obviously no work required but if you are isolating then it is school as usual just at home.

Please keep in contact with your child’s teacher re their learning and their needs.
A warm welcome to the “Dental Bus”: Lisa, Jan, Vicky and Sonya will be seeing each child while they are here. Your child will be given a notice to say they have been seen - some will need to return a notice SO please get them back asap to the office.

Compulsory Conferences  On Monday a ‘doc’ link for each class went out to all families so parents/caregivers can book a time. PLEASE ensure you do this asap. If you are not comfortable coming to school for a conference then you are welcome to ask for a phone or zoom type meeting. It is vital that all staff get to connect with each child’s family especially at the moment as we do not get to see you as much now a days. If you did not receive this notification it means your email is not linked to your child's profile in our new App Hero, please contact the office so we can update this.

What's Happening?

Swimming  On Monday the senior classes had a lovely school swimming sports that catered to all students. Thanks and well done to all.
Let’s celebrate before the pool closes!!!!
Tuesday 8th March 2022 @ 1:00 PM
We are holding a mini triathlon for all ages.
All students will need to wear togs or clothing that is ok to get wet.
Station 1 = walk, run or swim a length of the school pool or
 run through the sprinkler
Station 2 = scooter, ride a bike around a track or complete the obstacle course
Station 3 = Run, skip or walk the track.

As the Masterton bus students are no longer allowed to take their bikes etc on the bus, if between now and Tuesday you can get your child’s bike or scooter to school they can lock them up at school and then when you come for your conferences you will be able to take them home.

The children will participate in their age groups and there will be senior students supporting those who need help.

Swimming Lessons  The scheduled swimming lessons for each child that were planned for the next few weeks are on hold at present - we will keep you posted and try to reschedule when things calm down.

Breakfast Club  At this stage we will hold off restarting breakfast club. However, if a child is in need of some Weet-Bix and toast, they are more than welcome to come and see us at the office or check with their classroom teacher.

Granny Flat or Sleep Out  If anyone has a Granny flat or sleep out that would be suitable for one person to bunk down a few nights a week to save travel please contact the office.

Note from the Board of Trustees  At our first meeting of the year 16/02/22 Phil Neubauer was re appointed as the chair person. The Annual Plan and Strategic Plan were approved - please see below our plan on a page.

There are also features such as sending an absence (that gets sent directly to the class roll) and viewing medical room visits. When making an account on the Hero app please use the same email you have registered with the school (so it links to your child/ren), if you would like to update your email address please email us at and tell us your email address + the student profile to attach it to. click here for more information: Hero.
Dates for your Calendar:

08 Tue - Celebration of the school pool closing

During the summertime: Compulsory Hats. No hat, No play! Please make sure that your child has a sun smart hat in their bag to use each day. We have a supply of school hats for sports days ONLY. For health reasons we need children to supply their own NAMED, SUN SMART hat.

We are a Water Only School. We encourage all students to have a water bottle with them at school. If a child brings another type of drink to school the teachers will take the drink off them and give it back at the end of the day, to take home.
