The ASF is pleased to announce Seed Business 2015 is likely to be held at Toowoomba, Qld pending on venue options (currently being investigated). We hope to have this confirmed in the coming weeks.
 
The proposed dates for the ASF Seed Business 2015 Convention are from Tuesday 25 August (Day 1) – Thursday 27 August 2015 (Day 3).

There will be a social day on Monday 24th August for those that wish to take part and a Field Ag tour on Friday 28th August (TBC).

The ASF is pleased to advised that one our members Brenda Dossey, Managing Director of Gold Coast AgriBusiness Pty Ltd, has been appointed the Vice President position of The Asia Pacific Seed Association (APSA). Full text - Click here

She was elected at the APSA Executive Committee Meeting held in Macau on Friday 14 November 2014 and will serve as Vice President for two years. Congratulations Brenda on this role!

 New Post Entry Quarantine Facility Update                                            

See below information from The PEQ Project Team:

As 2015 begins, so does another year of construction at the site of the new Post Entry Quarantine Facility in Mickleham, Victoria.

Since construction commenced in May 2014, the site has been a flurry of activity. Cameras at the site have been on duty to collect daily images of the construction progress.

To see how much progress has been made, please visit the Post Entry Quarantine GovSpace website at:
https://postentryquarantine.govspace.gov.au to see a time-lapse video showing pictures of the site from May till November 2014.

To see this progress in photos, have a look at our new photo gallery which contains monthly photos of the progress at each of the compounds.

 Project Harvest October 2014 - vegetable consumer and market        
 report 

There is an increasing need in Australia's horticulture industry to monitor and gauge consumer perception and behaviour in relation to fresh vegetables.

Colmar Brunton conducts monthly on-line tracking following specified vegetables; monthly trend analysis; and additional ad-hoc projects to assist in this understanding of consumers.

This report focuses on:

  • Cauliflowers

 Grains and Fodder Competition - 2015 Royal Adelaide Show              

See below 2015 Flyer providing details of the 2015 Royal Adelaide Show Grains and Fodder photo competition which is open to anyone in Australia. A prize schedule is also available to give you an indication of some of the prizes on offer. New awards for 2015 include a Champion Seed Cleaner Award (presented to the company/person who prepared the Champion Prepared Seed) and Champion Medic or Lucerne Seed.

All the seeds are tested either in South Australia or Victoria prior to visual judging by our Judges in August. The results of the judging for the individual criteria are made available to all exhibitors.

During the Show (4th to 13th September, 2015) the Grains and Fodder Committee has a wonderful display in the Golden Grains Pavilion of all the exhibits, with judging score cards, interactive exhibits and other exhibitors connected to the Grains Industry.

 NAL Unveils New Search Engine for Research                                      

The National Agricultural Library (NAL), has unveiled PubAg, a user-friendly search engine that gives the public enhanced access to research published by the U.S. Department of Agriculture scientists. NAL is part of the USDA’s Agricultural Research Service.

PubAg, is a new portal for literature searches and full-text access of more than 40,000 scientific journal articles by USDA researchers, mostly from 1997 to 2014. New articles by USDA researchers will be added almost daily. There is no access fee to access PubAg. Full text -
