Hi!  My name is Rev. Donna Catlin.  While Pastor Bev is on renewal leave for a few weeks, Pastor Joel Catlin and I have the honor of holding down the fort in ministry.  We are retired United Methodist ministers, and we live up the road from the church building.  Thank you for allowing us to spend this time with such loving followers of Christ!

Have you ever had an overwhelming feeling of loneliness? I know I certainly have experienced loneliness in various situations like while standing in a shower or looking out the window or even in a crowded room. Sometimes circumstances cause loneliness to overwhelm us suddenly.  Other times we experience a slowly growing despair that lasts and lasts and deepens into our soul.

I have good news for those who have known those feelings of isolation and despair. You don’t have to stay there!  The great news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is that we have a LIVING Savior. I know there is hope and life beyond that pit!  I am living proof of the hope from the One who promised to lift us up. He will lift you up too! Millions of others who have walked through the depths of that hell have come out on the other side with renewed purpose.

Loneliness is a serious epidemic in this world.  Last Sunday we talked about one way to begin to overcome loneliness. We must get outside ourselves by focusing of Christ … really focusing, until everything else fades away in the warmth of God’s love.

This week, the series concludes with another message about the hope we can find outside the pain.  If you, or someone you care about needs some hope, this might be a good time to “tune in” – in person or on Facebook live at 9:45 am.  I’m looking forward to seeing you, and sharing some good, Good News!

One of my favorite Scriptures of hope is Isaiah 40:28-31 … Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. There is always hope!
