Dear colleagues,
Please find enclosed the link to the OCHA Situation Report no. 3 on the Southwest Monsoon Flooding in the Philippines. This report covers the period from 21 August to 22 August 2013. The next report will be issued on or around 27 August 2013. 

HIGHLIGHTS
  • Floodwaters in Metro Manila recede after four days of incessant monsoon rains while flooding in the low-lying areas in provinces north and south of the capital persists. 
  • Many of the 186,700 people sheltered in 590 evacuation centres are expected to return home in the coming days, particularly in Metro Manila. 
  • The government is leading the response operation, which has shifted focus from evacuation and rescue to relief.
  • There has been no confirmed further indication from the government for a targeted international support.
