Brandon Egge, Cheri Egge and Meg Teynor represented the Chris Wivholm Foundation who sponsored the 3rd Annual Public Lecture on Addiction with guest speaker Andrew Zimmern. Cheri shared after the event: “I have always loved watching his shows here in the cities locally as well as nationally on Bizarre Foods and other food shows. His story was one we have heard so many times in recent years and he has lived to tell about it. It was a pleasure hearing him speak so frankly and honestly about recovery and how he still needs to work at it every day. It was also a pleasure meeting him afterwards, if only for a moment to tell him about Chris & Devin, the foundation as well as how much We enjoyed his talk.”

This month we remember Chris Wivholm

From Chris’s mom Elina Curran: “Chris just turned 21 in December of 2017; he had his whole life in front of him!  He knew he had addiction, and he was on the way to recovery.  He successfully completed treatment in February of 2018 and was doing well.  However, when a brain is affected by opioids 30 days of treatment is not enough. Unfortunately, relapses happen, and Chris’s’ relapse cost him his life on March 30, 2018… I miss him tremendously!  We were very close, and we created the best memories especially when we traveled together around the world! Also, Chris's passion was cars. He loved to drive and enjoyed giving people rides and laughing with friends.  He had a beautiful car the garage.  He told me that he wanted to deserve to drive it.  He wanted to get a better paid job and to start paying for the car and the insurance.  He got a great job offer on March 30, 2018… He gave me his pay checks to help.  Chris always asked how he could help around the house. I remember when I came home after running errands he would come out to the garage and ask if I needed help to unload the car. He had the biggest heart and was kind and fun, and full of life!  I will forever miss his smile, his hugs, hearing his voice and listening to his stories. I love Chris more than life!  That is why I created this Foundation: I do not want anyone to go through this pain of losing a loved one!  We need to end the stigma and to find medication to help the addicted brain heal."  Please read the article in the Eden Prairie Newspaper that talks about the Foundation
