As the lockdown restrictions are slowly lifted we hope that everyone remembers what a fantastic service our shops, garages, delivery and postal workers have provided during these difficult times. And let’s hope that we all continue to support our local shops and service providers long into the future without them life in Stradbroke would certainly not have been as comfortable as it has been throughout the pandemic.
A reminder that you still need to book a time slot at any of the Suffolk County Council Recycling Centres - you can do this here
It’s good to see that the tennis courts are back in use again and that the refurbishment work at the swimming pool and gym is continuing apace and the bowls green is due to open on June 13th.The children's play areas remain closed however, but hopefully as the rules relax these will soon become open for use again.
A big thankyou to all those who have donated to the food bank. Since the appeal in the last newsletter, Susan Loxton has reported a significant increase in the number of donations. This has been much appreciated and your support has helped many people who are unable to fully support themselves and their families. If you know someone who would benefit from this service then tell them to get in touch with Susan Loxton directly or via Stradbroke Online
In consultation with representatives of the Parish Council and the Community Centre Committee, there are proposals to have a major event in the village to celebrate the lifting of restrictions after the lockdown is over. Two options are being considered: A Street Party in the centre of the village where the roads are closed and we have stalls, food & drink, music and entertainment. Alternatively we have a celebratory festival on the Community Centre playing fields with similar content. The details have not yet been worked out but the editors would like to have your opinion.
