Crafters and Artists Welcome!!

Again this year, MCGC Neighbors is orchestrating the Small Business Expo… and Christmas Bazaar.  We are expanding the Expo on October 4 to include all you crafters and artists in the neighborhood  who would like to show your work, sell, or take orders.

Do you knit, make jewelry, paint watercolors or acrylics, throw pottery, carve wood, weave, sew, blow glass, make soap, recycle metals, paint ceramics, make Christmas wreaths or ornaments, etc. etc.  This Expo is for you!

Or do you hold parties with products like books, jewelry, candles, totes and bags, kitchen utensils?  This Expo is for you!

Or do you have a small business with services/products that would be of interest to the neighborhood, such as travel, real estate, skin care, personal trainer, pet sitter, floor care, day spa, home computer support, interior decorating, staging homes, handyman, landscaping, etc?  This Expo is for you!

Reserve a space for Saturday, October 4 at the Murphy Creek Community Center from Noon-3PM.  MCGC Neighbors is organizing the event, will provide advertising throughout the neighborhoods, and will provide you with a space, table, chairs and table cover.

Your participation is free if you are a current paid member of MCGC Neighbors, a current advertiser, or a current membership partner.  Membership is only $15/year.  Join us here, take advantage of the membership discounts available and sign up here to participate in the Expo for free!  If you aren't a current paid member, advertiser, or membership partner, you can still reserve a spot at the Expo for $15.

Spaces are available on a first come, first served basis.  We filled up the Community Center last year!  So, let us hear from you soon!

Doggy Day at the Pool

Doggie Day at the Pool

Your last chance to hangout at the Murphy Creek Pool this summer - with your dog - is this Saturday, September 6.

Dogs get to swim, splash, shake off water, eat treats, and romp around the pool between 10AM and Noon.

Bring your dog(s), balls/chew toys for pool retrieval, poopie bags and gate access cards.

Last year’s doggie party, sponsored by the HOA Social Committee, was a big splash.  Don’t let your dog(s) miss the fun!

ConocoPhillips Open House

ConocoPhillips Open House

ConocoPhillips is hosting an Open House to discuss their Site Plans for three nearby oil and gas development applications.

The date is Tuesday, September 9 from 5PM -7:30PM, and the location is the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds (Paintbrush Conf. Rm.) just a few miles southeast of us at 25690 E. Quincy Ave.

MCGC Neighbors contacted ConocoPhillips last week to request that at least part of the scheduled time be a meeting to present information to all with Q&A time.  We also asked if air quality monitors would be installed in the nearby neighborhoods.  We were told to expect answers to our questions on Thursday (tomorrow).  So, unless we hear differently, the format will be an Open House.  They will have booths staffed with ConocoPhillips employees who can answer your questions and listen to your concerns.

We encourage you to research on you own and read prior informational articles in the MCGC Neighbors News Blast from July 23, August 6 and August 27.  These will be useful as you think through questions to ask.  There is also a list of potential questions on our website that we posted before the last Open House in February, 2014.  We may try to add a few more potential questions to that list in the next few days.

Please click here for more information and to see the complete Open House invitation.

Rules? What Rules? Update

Rules? Update

As we reported in our News Blast last week, we were unclear as to how the Planning Department could pick and choose which sections of the Zoning Code they could use to process waivers for Oil ad Gas developments.  This is still unclear to us.

We heard that a city attorney issued a written opinion about why it is acceptable for the waivers to be processed administratively using Section 146-204B, instead of using Section 146-1207H.  We contacted 2 City Council Members and a planning manager this morning to request a copy of the attorney's opinion.  We will update you when we receive a response.

In the meantime, please review our August 27 News Blast for more information.  You can also view more information about the processing of waivers in the August 25 Aurora Sentinel article and in the September 3 Denver Post YourHub Aurora article.
