Interesting Environmental Tidbits
- Recycling an aluminum can uses 95% less energy than making a can from new materials.
- Every year we throw away 24 million tons of leaves and grass that could be composted. Start a pile. Use your leaves, food scraps and other biodegradable items. The earthy mix is great for your plants and gardens.

Signs of Progress
Progress Publication
The city's newest publication, "Signs of Progress" (click here), is an interesting look at the city's progress through the years in a number of different areas. It also highlights some of the city's future projects.
It's easy reading and has a lot of great graphics, so please take a few minutes to see where our city came from and where it's going!
6th Avenue Parkway Extension Project
Click here to see the results of the December 3, 2014, Open House. Make note of the public's impression of the alternative routes that were presented as options. This also ties in with a section of the "Signs of Progress" publication mentioned above.
The public is being asked for input on this project, so please take advantage of that opportunity. We will let you know when the next Open House is scheduled.

Oil & Gas Committee Special Meeting
The Oil & Gas Committee will hold a special meeting on Wednesday, February 11, 2015, from 3PM - 4:30PM in the Aspen Room (second floor) at the Aurora Municipal Center.
This meeting is intended to gain input from the committee regarding its organization. Discussion items will include establishing a firm list of committee members, enhancing public participation, advertising for meetings, taking meeting minutes, and creating term limits.
Currently, the committee consists primarily of industry representatives and fracking advocates, so it would be great to get some actual citizen representation, both pro and con, on this committee.
We know that the time for this meeting may be inconvenient for those who work, but this committee is very important, so, if you are able to attend, we hope you will do so.
