Weekly Neighborhood News from MCGC Neighbors

MCGC Neighbors Weekly News Blast
Post Activity on MCGC's Bulletin Board

We will have quite a bit of activity in the neighborhood over the next couple of weeks from the vibrator trucks, and we would like to keep track of this activity.  When you see the vibrator trucks or any other fracking-related activity, we would appreciate it if you would post the date, time, location, and activity type on our Bulletin Board.  We have created a fracking section with separate topics for the Seismic Recording Devices and the Vibrator trucks.  Please post to these topics or create your own, if you like.  If you have a picture to post, please upload it on our website.  Thanks for helping us keep the neighborhood informed!
Fracking Related Vibrator Trucks
Have You Seen These Large White Trucks?

In last week’s MCGC News Blast we provided information about the Seismic Recording Devices that we have all observed on the “right of ways” throughout our community.  We learned from Geokinetics, based in Houston, that the company has the appropriate permits from the city of Aurora, etc., and they are collecting data on underground formations for Anadarko, Conoco and Chesapeake Energy.

This week we are seeing the large trunk caravans on our neighborhood streets and golf course.  (See photos)  The equipment on these trucks send vibrations into the ground to enable the seismic recording devices to chart the formations below.  The neighbor who took the picture at the top of this column reported feeling her whole house vibrate several times.  Another neighbor reported three huge white trucks stopping on her street, feeling her house rumble twice and hearing a deafening rattle from the trucks for several minutes.  We understand these trucks will be in our area for the next 2-3 weeks.  This data collection is part of the process used by the oil and gas industry to help determine sites for fracking.

Kim Smith, a Murphy Creek neighbor, is on Aurora’s Oil and Gas Advisory Committee.  She wants to hear your questions and your opinions.  She has an Advisory  Committee meeting on Wed. Jan 16, so contact her .

Does Our Water Need Protecting?

According to an article on the front page of the Denver Post this week….”Colorado’s proposed new rule to protect our water from expanding oil and gas operations would not apply to more than 25% of wells or to the tanks, pipelines and other production facilities that are frequent sources of leaks……The oil and gas companies contend the state rule goes too far.”

The Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (COGCC) will be voting this week on the new water rule along with proposed restrictions on drilling within 500 feet of homes.  Learn more from the January 7 edition of The Post, or contact Linda Deebel, our representative on the rule making committee.
