Brew Time!

You’ve waited all year for it, and now it’s time!

The Hops for Habitat Annual Benefit Brewfest is Friday, July 19, from 5PM – 9PM at the Plains Conservation Center

Over 15 Colorado microbreweries will have beer for you to enjoy, and there will be live music, food trucks, and more.  Click to see which breweries will be on hand this year.

Tickets are $35 in advance, $40 at the door, and $15 for designated drivers.  Please remember that this is an over 21 event!

This is a fund raising event for the Plains Conservation Center, an MCGC Neighbors’ Membership Partner.

Unexploded Fracking Pipe
Fracking Update

Cindy Hull, one of our readers from Thunderbird Estates, sent us some information about problems with recycling fracking pipes.

Cindy became aware of the issue with fracking pipes  via her employment at the Modular Space Corp that leases and sells modular buildings.

Recycling companies, both local and nationwide, are refusing to accept fracking pipe for recycling, due to potential danger from explosives

Pipes that are manufactured for fracking are equipped with explosive charges that are intended to be detonated underground.  But, sometimes the charges do not detonate and are still “live” within the pipe when they are presented for recycling.

9News reports that the Loveland Fire Department and other local governments have issued memos to City Employees warning them not to handle fracking pipes

Also, CDOT is educating its employees to identify fracking pipes, in case they should find them along a highway right-of-way.  You can read more about this issue on the 9News website.
Watering restrictions
Green Lawns

The lawn watering restrictions for Aurora have been loosened by Aurora city officials.

Due to heavy spring snow and a system to recapture water in the South Platte River, our area reservoirs are at 67% capacity.

We can now water our lawns on any day 3 times each week before 10AM or after 6PM.
