MCGC News Blast for October 10, 2012
Murphy Creek Metro District
 Special Meeteing/Public Hearing

At last week's Metro District Board meeting, the developer announced that a church is potentially interested in building in Murphy Creek.  Based on the HOA's email blast this morning, the location being considered is northwest of the intersection of East Jewell Avenue and South Harvest Mile Road between South Flatrock Trail and the power lines.  What does this mean to our community?  Which Districts would be affected?  Would there be any tax consequences?  Would there be any revenue consequences?  Would there be any consequences for future development?  Would our fee assessments change as a result?  Would this benefit our community?  We don't know the answers to these and many other questions.  Please attend the Special Meeting and Public Hearing on Tuesday, October 16, at 6:00 p.m. in the Murphy Creek Community Center, 23801 East Florida Avenue.  This would be the first proposed development since the RV/Boat storage, so please attend this meeting, ask questions, and voice your opinions!
Su Ryden’s Town Hall
Mark your calendars for October 18 from 7-8:30PM.  Our Colorado State Representative, Su Ryden, is conducting her next Town Hall specifically focusing on issues and questions about Home Owners Associations.  Our HOA Boards at Murphy Creek are responsible for managing and maintaining services and facilities for the community.  Learn more about how HOAs work from panelist from the city’s HOA Information Office, the Community Associations Institute and the HOA Forum.  These panelists have the expertise to inform and educate us.  If you want to share a ride to the Community College  of Aurora for the meeting, email us at info@mcgcneighbors.org.

Time for a Halloween Pumpkin Hunt!
It’s an MCGC Neighbors Halloween Pumpkin Hunt…..although your children will actually be hunting for Halloween toys and candy at Homestead Park.  Show up with your sons and daughters (through age 12) on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 11AM.    While the younger goblins (ages 6 and below) start the hunt, the older group (ages 7-12) will be mesmerized by a Magician with Halloween tricks.  Then those older goblins will also have an opportunity to scour the Park to finds toys and candy.  Be sure to bring a small bag or container for the goodies, and maybe get a head start on showing off Halloween costumes, if you would like.  Be there or Beware!!  Weather Permitting!
