Waivers and Council Call-Ups

As the November election approaches, MCGC Neighbors has told you that we would make you aware of how City Council members have voted on important issues in the past.  Well, we think there is an important issue in the present, and we want to call it to your attention so you can monitor it for yourself while it is happening.

At the Planning and Economic Development (PED) meeting this morning, Ward IV Council Member, Molly Markert, introduced the topic of Waivers (primarily administrative waivers) and Council Call-Ups, and the timeframes and notification processes associated with them.

Council Member Markert expressed concern that the Gaylord project was administratively approved without a public hearing, and the removal of sidewalks at the Dunkin’ Donuts on Havana was administratively approved without a public hearing.  Ward I Council Member, Sally Mounier, expressed concern that a Walmart on Colfax was administratively approved without a public hearing.  They both expressed further concerns (read more...)
The Way Way Back

Movie in the Park

The Social Committee tried to show "The Way Way Back" last summer, but it was rained out.  Since this is such a good summer movie, they have scheduled it for next Friday, July 17!

Join your friends and neighbors for this entertaining movie.  Bring lawn chairs, blankets, jackets, and bug spray to Homestead Park.  The movie will start at dusk.

During July the city of Aurora is providing free a number of great Summer Concerts. 

Mark your calendars for July 16, the 6 Million Dollar Band  at Meadowood Park, 3054 S. Laredo St.; July 23, FourEver Fab at Meadowood Park and on July 30, Raising Cain at the Aurora Municipal Center.

Murphy Creek Homeowner Forum

Mid-Year HOA Meeting – Just for You!

This is a meeting you won’t want to miss.  The Murphy Creek Homeowners Association (HOA) is conducting the mid-year Open Forum for the community on July 15 (Wed) beginning at 7PM at the Community Center. 

This is the forum where you will hear about how our community is managed; how your monthly fees are budgeted and spent; what activities are going on in the community, including the Social Committee and the Garden Committee; what’s new with our pool, club house, tennis courts, etc.; updates on covenant enforcement, landscaping and tree replacement; security for our neighborhood; and news about future development for Murphy Creek. 

You will also have an opportunity to ask questions and make comments.  The mid-year forum is held for you, and it is truly an interesting and informative opportunity to learn more about what’s going on!

Start planning now to attend the annual Hops for Habitat Benefit BrewFest at the Plains Conservation Center on August. 1.
