MCGC Neighbors Weekly News Blast

Chemicals, Prairie Dogs and Cattle

Some neighbors have expressed concern about seeing someone putting chemicals in the prairie dog burrows along Flat Rock Dr. and Harvest Rd.  There are a number of neighbors who jog or walk along that area, often with their dogs.  Is it safe?

We have learned from the Murphy Creek management company that the land in question is privately owned and is not part of the Murphy Creek neighborhood.  The owner has cattle grazing on the land, and some have stepped in the prairie dog holes and broken legs.  The number of prairie dogs has grown too large, and the owner had to prevent further accidents with his cattle.

The chemical goes directly into the burrows and is not spread over the ground where neighbors might walk or breath it in.  This should not cause any issues with owners and their pets.

Hopefully this information resolves the issue concerning the chemical.  It’s good to know we are safe.  The other issue - whether you are pro-prairie dog or pro-cattle; it’s truly sad they can’t co-exist.

Southlands AMC Theatre

Around Town

Check out the newly revamped Southlands 16 AMC theater.  It has opened for fast, casual dining with a  menu developed by a NY Celebrity chef.

You won’t find the typical finger food and burgers.  The menu is more upscale, yet priced right.  You will order and pay for food and drinks in the lobby, settle into a reserved, plush, power recliner, have your meal served, and enjoy the movie.

Per the old cliché, this is truly “going out for dinner and a movie.”
