Weekly Neighborhood News from MCGC Neighbors

MCGC Neighbors Weekly News Blast

Proposed Oil & Gas Well Permits Update

When MCGC Neighbors was notified by the City of 2 proposed well permits nearby, we informed the community via a Special Edition of our News Blast on July 13, and we provided follow on information in our regular News Blast on July 16.  (Click the underlined links to see those News Blasts.)

We requested feedback from the community so that we would know how to respond to the City.  We sincerely appreciate the feedback from everyone who submitted their opinions via the survey on our website, as well as those who submitted their comments to the City individually!  We compiled all the comments we received and submitted them to the City on July 20.  Once the Case Manager has reviewed all comments received from City staff, the health department, landowners, residents, etc., he will determine the next steps and post the results on the City's website

In the meantime, if you would like to see MCGC Neighbors' comments, they are posted on our website:  Eastern Hills Comments; Cherry Creek Vista Comments.  Comments for both well sites were identical, and the opinions of those who responded to our survey ran about 4 to 1 against the well sites, particularly without review by the Planning Commission with a public hearing.

We encourage you to visit the City's Aurora4Biz website to stay informed of these and other developments affecting our community.  You may also view Approved and Pending Well Permits by list and by map on our website.

MCGC Neighbors Vacation

Taking a Break

The MCGC Neighbors who write and publish the weekly News Blast will take a vacation from their News Blast duties next week.

So, don't expect a News Blast on July 30, but we will be back on August 6 with current news from around the neighborhood!
MCGC Neighbors Casino Trip

Blackhawk Casino Trip Update

We're getting closer to our goal of 30 people, but we haven't reached that goal yet!  If you have been holding off on making a decision, now is the time to decide.  Because we are so close to our goal, we are extending the deadline to respond for another week.

The date most people can join us is Sunday, August 24.  MCGC Neighbors would charter a bus to pick us up right here in Murphy Creek, take us to the casinos in Blackhawk, and return us back to Murphy Creek after about 4 hours at the casinos – you pick the casinos you want to visit.

Depending upon how many people go, the cost would be anywhere from $20 to $30 dollars per person.  The more people who go, the lower the price.  Adults Only Please.  If we can't get at least 30 people by July 30, we will have to drop this trip, but we will try again another time.

Please complete the Casino Trip Survey on our website by July 30, if you can join us on August 24.  You don’t need to live in Murphy Creek or be a paid member of MCGC Neighbors to join us on this trip.  However, if you ARE a paid member of MCGC Neighbors, you will receive $5 off the price of the bus fee.  Let us hear from you!

Murphy Creek Management Meeting

Mid-Year Homeowner Forum and Board Meetings

The meetings start tonight at 6PM in the Community Center.  You can download the agendas for all the meetings from the HOA's website.

For your convenience, we have posted the agenda for the Homeowner Forum on our website.

The Way, Way Back

Movie Night in the Park

The HOA Social Committee's movie on Friday is The Way, Way Back, rated PG-13.

There is a lot of subtle humor in this movie, released just last year.  Steve Carell plays against type as a not-so-nice guy, while Allison Janney's character provides a lot of the laughs.  Denver's own, AnnaSophia Robb, also has a small part.  No Oscars here, but plenty of other awards, and it's a great summer movie.

Bring popcorn, jackets, blankets, lawn chairs, bug spray, etc. to Homestead Park at dusk!

Tunisia Band

Tunisia at the Pavilion

The HOA’s Social Committee is sponsoring Tunisia at the Tavern’s Pavilion on Sunday, August 3, from 5 – 7PM.   Come prepared to dance!

Hear your favorite music from the 70s and 80s to today's current hits, played by a very popular high-energy entertainment group from the area.

There are some tables and chairs outside at the Pavilion, but the Social Committee is expecting a crowd, so don't forget to bring your own chairs or blankets.  No outside food or beverages, please.

The Tavern's wait staff will be outdoors to take your orders and bring your food and drinks to you, so you never have to leave the music.   Join your neighbors for some Sunday afternoon fun on August 3rd!

National Night Out
National Night Out

The next Neighborhood Watch meeting will coincide with the National Night Out picnic!  This event is scheduled for Tuesday, August 5, from 6-8PM at Homestead Park.

You can learn about the safety of our neighborhood while your kids enjoy the playground.  And everyone is welcome to the hot dogs, chips, and water that will be provided.
