The Monthly - October 2020

The October issue of the Monthly, Community Arts Partnership's online arts sector magazine, continues our discussions with Community Arts organisations under Lockdown and beyond. How are organisations coping with the pandemic restrictions and how are they finding ways to make Community Arts relevant to the people they work with?

In this issue we continue our interview with Grainne Woods and David Calvert from Kids in Control, the physical theatre organisation working with people from all backgrounds and abilities. We ask how they have adapted their work, how their participants have responded and how they feel the situation might look for their organisation in the future.

There is a feature on John Baucher's new exhibition "Flowers from the East", a continuation of his practice of documenting the undocumented, and we have the second part of our interview with Smashing Times CEO and Artistic Director, Mary Moynihan.

Included in this issue is her Poem Film "In Time" which was part of the "Emotional Landscapes" exhibition featured in the recent Dublin Arts and Human Rights Festival.

Following on from our articles on issues within Community Arts, Francois Matarasso raises questions regarding intellectual property rights and the work of Community Arts Practitioners.
