In the midst of the worldwide
COVID-19 crisis

The men and women in Palestine's farming communities send a heartfelt message to those across the world who are impacted by COVID-19: "Now, more than ever we are reminded that we are global citizens struggling together for justice and the health and well-being of us all, with no exceptions.  We send you our message of hope and soldarity."

In Palestine

Nasser Abufarha, founder of Canaan Palestine*, and his staff know it will be impossible to avoid a health crisis in Palestine.  In anticipation, they are in the midst of two initiatives.  First, Canaan Palestine is preparing for rescue and outreach efforts.  They are ready to deliver free meals from the Canaan Kitchen* to health care workers in the Jenin region.

Second, they anticipated that companies in the West Bank could face disruptions in producing and exporting their products, in addition to  those already imposed by the occupation.  In early March the staff began a complete distancing and sanitation protocol in the offices and plant.

Plant workers, while social distancing, worked two shifts, around the clock, throughout the month.  They processed and shipped all olive oil orders through June.  "This is fair trade farmers' oil from the olive harvest last fall for our friends world wide to enjoy while they shelter at home with their families", they said when asked about their efforts.
