Thanks to you, more women are working in Palestine. Your gifts funded two women model regenerative farmers (three actually) and equipped a maftoul-making women's cooperative.
Model regenerative farmer Hanin says, "Sharing with my husband the responsibility of taking care of my family financially and being part of decision making in regards to our future is a personal achievement that I realized through this project."
Zahriya, 65, and her sister Intisar, 60, are seasonal olive farmers. Zahriya says, "I always had a dream to utilize the land for other crops such as vegetables, legumes, and to raise animals to graze in the land but our economic situation prevented us from doing so.” The grant from LOCF provided welcome start-up funds for the sisters.
The Deir Ballut women asked for a crop drying unit on the roof of their cooperative building to increase their productivity in a sustainable enterprise. There are 10 women in the cooperative. Their new drying unit contributes significantly to the financial status of the cooperative and improves the members' living conditions. It is truly a room of their own.
