Universal Music Group Leads Funding Round For Mass Appeal
Universal Music Group has led a Series A funding round for Mass Appeal, a New York-based media & content company focused on urban culture. Investors on the $6 million round of funding include Evolution Media, Jon Jashni (Raintree Ventures), Charles King (Macro), Michael Kassan (MediaLink), Usher, Steve Stoute, Karen Lauder and existing investors White Owl Capital and Nas.
Netflix is Now in More US Homes than DVRs
Netflix is now in more US households than Digital Video Recorders. About 54% of U.S. adults said they have Netflix in their household, while 53% have a DVR, according to Research Group’s annual on-demand study. According to the research firm, in 2011, 44% of TV households had a DVR and 28% had Netflix.
NowThis to Create Long-Form Content

Snap Inc. Shares Take a Tumble
Snap's shares opened at 4% on the third day of public trading before falling as much as 9% in today's morning session. The pullback comes after investor enthusiasm for Snap led to a huge run-up in the two days following its IPO— and after Wall Street analysts warned that Snap shares are drastically overvalued
Twitch Launches New Social Feature
Twitch prides itself on the connection it affords between streamers and viewers - today they've made the ability to connect even stronger with the launch of Pulse. This new feature allows streamers to post and engage with their followers and whole Twitch user base directly from the Twitch front page. Pulse will act as an "always-on" presence to stream highlights and share clips, schedules, photos and more.
CNNgo to Add Original Content 
CNNgo launched in 2014, with programming available to pay-TV subs, thats changing. On March 12, CNNgo will attempt to reach "cord-nevers" with new original series that are free to anyone, cord or not. The first original to air is "Mostly Human" hosted by Laurie Segall as she explores the relationship between humans and technology.

Nearly seven out of ten media planners and buyers (67 per cent) want more Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) ads incorporated into digital marketing campaigns, primarily to improve consumer engagement.
