Don't let the heat keep you from your yoga practice! Yoga is a great way to stay calm and cool under the stress of the summer heat. Try these techniques to help cool you down:
Sitali or Sitkari Pranayama: CLICK HERE for a brief article on how to practice.
Chandra Bhedana: a cooling pranayama (also known as left nostril breathing) done by blocking the right nostril and breathing in through the left; then blocking the left and breathing out through the right. Repeat for 5-10 rounds and see how you feel. It's also great for lowering your blood pressure, helping you sleep and generally calming the body and mind.
Cooling asana like Legs up the Wall, Wide Leg Forward Bends, Gentle twists held to release tension, Savasana.
Meditation: whether you sit quietly or prefer to listen to a guided meditation, the stillness and focus not only brings you clarity and calm but also has a cooling effect on the body.
And, of course, plenty of water to stay hydrated!
Be sure to try a spritz or two of the cool and refreshing Rose Water Spray in the studio's restroom next time you're in, too!
Forward bends are the focus for Module Six of our Yogic Studies Program. It's never too late to join in. CLICK HERE to learn more!
It's that time of year at YFTH when teachers are taking some much needed time for themselves. We are so grateful to all of you for your continued support even when your favorite teachers are away! Remember that we try to keep the online class schedule up-to-date.
